Take Action
Your voice is so important when it comes to ensuring the strong and sustainable future of the Delaware River and the communities within the Delaware River Basin. Please add your name to the petition to state legislators below and we will deliver the signatures to make them aware of constituent support for resources to make Our Shared Waters the best they can be!
Dear Delaware River Basin Legislator,
The Delaware River extends 330 miles through New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware and is the largest water source in our area. It is fed by 216 smaller rivers, canals, creeks and streams that we know of as our local waterways. The Delaware River Basin is the area surrounding the river and the basin provides water to millions of American homes for drinking, cooking, cleaning and bathing, and to the farms growing our food. The Basin is also home to fish, animals and plants that are an important part of our ecosystem. Millions of people visit the basin each year to watch birds, canoe, fish, hunt and enjoy nature.
The Delaware River is cleaner than ever, but still faces challenges to its sustainability as a public resource for drinking water, recreation and environmental habitat. Pollution due to chemicals, pesticides and herbicides is one of the primary threats, along with rising sea levels and flooding. Population growth and development can also negatively impact water resources.
Please work to protect the Delaware River Basin and adequately fund conservation efforts so that we can preserve its resources for all the critical functions we rely on it to provide. We need a safe and reliable water supply, habitat to support fish and wildlife, space for recreation and sustainable economic development. Please help to ensure the Basin can support us now and sustain us for future generations.
Sincerely,
